Best Bluetooth Adapters for Computer and Headphones – TOP 10

Best Bluetooth Adapters

This is a rundown of the best Bluetooth adapters for wireless headphones. I’ve rounded up the top 10 transmitters for hooking up Bluetooth headphones to phones, PCs, consoles, and TVs. Four models in this list can both send and receive signals, and two of them even have a third mode: DAC. You can check out the suitable audio codecs in the table below. For more on how to pick a Bluetooth adapter and what the differences are, read on to the end of the rating.

Important! All adapters on this list transmit only audio data using your chosen codec. You won’t be able to connect peripherals like keyboards or mice.

Why you can trust us. Rating spots are never for sale — to anyone. We buy 90% of models ourselves, 10% are sent by partners for testing. Models in this rating are tested under the EMMA 0.1.8 system?

EMMA — Experts + Methodology + MyChoozers + Algorithm.

Every model goes through identical tests; the score is calculated automatically with fixed weights — a spot in the rating cannot be bought.

FiiO Air Link

The FiiO Air Link is the most feature-rich mobile adapter I tested on MyChooz. It supports all the major audio codecs, including LDAC and the entire aptX series. It’s compatible with everything except Xbox. Only two things detract from the experience: the signal drops after the audio stream stops, and the proprietary app is poorly optimized. The adapter is also quite large and not ideal for outdoor use – you could easily snag it and damage your USB port.

Reasons to buy:
  • Features LDAC and the entire aptX series of codecs
  • App for Android/iOS and PC to manage codecs
Reasons not to buy:
  • Regular headphone reconnections
  • Poor optimization of the official app
  • Large dimensions
Sound. 7.95 The adapter doesn’t degrade performance. The LDAC codec started automatically at 660 kbps. There’s plenty of headroom, with comfortable listening at 50% volume, and audio latency is minimal.

Features. 7 The pros: a handy app for managing codecs from a phone and PC, plus a stable signal. The cons: regular reconnections of the headphones after the audio stream stops. Also, the app is poorly optimized and restarts with every action or transition.

Build. 7.00 Visually and tactilely sturdy. The adapter is convenient to use, though its 34.5 × 23.5 × 9.5 mm size gets in the way of normal outdoor use. You can easily bump into the adapter and damage the USB port. Therefore, it’s better to use the adapter at home or use accessories like a flexible cable or adapter.

1Mii B03Pro

1Mii B03Pro — this is a stationary Bluetooth adapter designed for home use, featuring aptX codecs for PCs, mobile devices, TVs, and projectors. What’s more, the adapter works reliably with Android phones in wired mode via OTG. Compared to the 1Mii B03Pro+, it lacks LDAC codec support and uses LEDs to indicate the active codec instead of a screen. The 1Mii B03Pro adapter supports three connection types, making it easy to turn any wired audio system into a wireless one.

Reasons to buy:
  • Three connection methods: wireless, wired optical, and analog.
  • 3 transmission modes: RX, TX, and Bypass
  • Five audio codecs: SBC, AAC, aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, and the low audio latency profile, aptX Adaptive-LL.
Reasons not to buy:
  • No high-resolution codecs like LDAC or aptX Lossless.
  • No Auracast and LE Audio.
Sound. 6.7 The adapter supports five audio codecs, including AAC for both receive and transmit modes. It also features a low audio latency profile: aptX Adaptive-LL. The adapter automatically selects the best codec parameters. You can only switch between the HD and LL profiles. YouTube audio latency is minimal, making it comfortable even with the aptX Adaptive profile.

Codecs. 5.5 The adapter supports five audio codecs: SBC, AAC, aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, and the low audio latency profile, aptX Adaptive-LL. After connecting headphones, the adapter automatically selects a compatible codec offering the best data transmission quality.
Audio Latency. 9.5 With YouTube streaming video, the sound has minimal delay when using the aptX Adaptive codec and HD profile. If you switch from HD to LL, the aptX codec is activated, but the Adaptive-LL profile isn’t. The audio latency seems visually even lower, closer to wired headphones.
Features. 7 There are three connection modes: wireless, wired digital, and wired analog. The necessary cables are included in the package. The wireless signal is stable at distances over 10 meters. It’s important to disable your headphones’ auto-pause function, as re-connecting takes up to 15 seconds and is generally inconvenient. There’s no proprietary app; control is handled via buttons on the body. All essential functions are available, and an LED indicates the adapter’s status and codec type.
More Details.
Controls. 8 You control it via buttons and switches on the body. There’s a forced pairing mode, selection for receive/transmit mode, switching between LL and HD profiles, volume control, and a power off button. The current status and active codec are indicated by LEDs on the body.

  • TX position (left) — enables transmitter mode.
  • Bypass position (center) — enables bypass mode.
  • RX position (right) — enables receiver mode.

Right top priority switch:

  • HD position (right) — High definition mode.
  • LL position (left) — Low latency mode.

Bottom row of buttons (left to right):

  • Bluetooth icon button — holding this button for about 2 seconds puts the device into pairing mode.
  • Minus icon button — decreases volume or skips to the previous track.
  • Plus icon button — increases volume or skips to the next track.
  • Power button — turns the device on and off.
App. 1 Not available.
Connection. 9.5 Three connection options are available: wireless, wired digital, and wired analog. The signal with the aptX Adaptive codec remains stable at distances over 10 meters and through two walls. Headphones pair in 5-10 seconds, and re-connection takes up to 3 seconds. There are no connection issues, but it’s crucial to disable the auto-pause function on your headphones. Otherwise, the signal interrupts if you remove the headphones from your ears, and re-connection then takes 10-15 seconds. Bluetooth version 5.0. For wired connections, there’s an optical port and a 3.5mm jack for input/output. It also features a wired bypass mode: you can use your acoustics in wired mode and switch to wireless mode with the switch on the adapter body when needed.
More Details.

Simultaneous Wireless Operation. You can connect two pairs of different headphones and broadcast sound simultaneously. However, the headphones will only work with the SBC codec.

1Mii B03Pro Adapter Connection Options:

  • Receiver mode. The incoming audio signal is transmitted wirelessly via Bluetooth from a smartphone or tablet to the adapter. The adapter then outputs the sound via cable to a wired stereo receiver or audio speakers.
  • Transmitter mode. The incoming audio signal is supplied via cable from a computer, TV, or projector to the adapter. The adapter then transmits this sound via Bluetooth to wireless headphones or wireless speakers.
  • Bypass mode. Bluetooth is not used for transmission in this mode. The sound comes from the TV via cable to the adapter and is directly rerouted via cable to the soundbar.
1Mii B03Pro Connection

Wired Connection Diagram:

  • Power: The 5V Power Cable connects to the DC IN port in the center.
  • Audio Outputs (out / To Speaker) for transmitting sound to speakers or a receiver: The 3.5mm Out jack is used to connect a 3.5mm analog cable or RCA cable. The Optical out jack is used to connect a digital optical cable.
  • Audio Inputs (in / From TV) for receiving sound from a TV or other source: The Optical In jack is used to connect a digital optical cable. The 3.5mm In jack is used to connect a 3.5mm analog cable or RCA cable.

Important Functions and Sensors:

  • Simultaneous operation of two headphones – yes.
  • LE Audio – no.
  • Auracast – no.
Build Quality. 9 It’s stationary and convenient to use. The adapter measures 126.5 x 81.6 x 27.5 mm, roughly the size of a 5-inch phone or a 10 Ah power bank. The adapter requires 5V for power; the charger is included, and you can power it via the USB port on your phone, TV, or PC.

UGREEN BT701 – the BEST Bluetooth Adapter under $25, featuring aptX-Adaptive and LC3 codecs. Compared to the BT501, it’s compatible with mobile devices, supports simultaneous use of two pairs of headphones, and Auracast. However, it does not support voice transmission.

Reasons to buy:
  • Stable signal, no connection issues
  • Five audio codecs and four additional profiles.
  • LE Audio, Auracast, and simultaneous sound broadcasting to two pairs of headphones.
Reasons not to buy:
  • Large size – easy to knock the adapter off outdoors.
  • No app for settings
Sound. 6.9 The adapter supports five audio codecs and four profiles: the aptX series and LC3. The highest quality codec—aptX Adaptive-HQ or Unicast-Lossless—activates first. Each subsequent codec change reduces sound quality. Switching codecs takes 1-2 seconds. Audio latency is minimal, ranging from 20-80 ms with the profile, so there’s no noticeable audio delay in games. However, for video, minimal desynchronization is only achieved with the aptX Adaptive-LL profile.

TempoTec LHDC ONE

TempoTec LHDC ONE — this is the best Bluetooth adapter and currently the only one with LHDC codecs. However, we couldn’t get the adapter to transmit sound. According to user feedback on our social networks, the adapter works on Windows 11, and on Android, it works with specific music players: Sony Music Center, UAPP, Hiby Music, FIIO music. Therefore, it’s probably best to hold off on buying this adapter for now.

Reasons to buy:
  • The only adapter with LHDC codecs.
Reasons not to buy:
  • There are issues with connection and sound transmission.

Which Bluetooth Adapter is Best to Choose?

When choosing a Bluetooth adapter, pay attention to these three parameters:

  • Data transmission type.
  • Data transmission mode.
  • Size and power.

There are adapters for transmitting two types of data:

  • For audio transmission. Transmits only audio data via the selected codec. You won’t be able to connect peripherals like keyboards or mice.
  • For data transmission. Can be used for connecting peripherals, linking a phone to a PC, and exchanging information between multiple devices. Such adapters can only transmit audio data via three codecs: AAC, SBC, and aptX.

Choose an adapter based on your needs: for audio transmission or data transmission. If your headphones only support AAC, SBC, and aptX codecs, a regular Bluetooth adapter for data transmission will suffice.

Bluetooth adapters work in two modes:

  • Receiver (receiver). Only receives a signal from another device. For example, it receives from a phone or laptop and then transmits to wired headphones, speakers, or another device with an audio input.
  • Transmitter (transmitter). Only transmits a signal to another device. For example, from a phone or PC to wireless headphones and wireless speakers.

There are universal adapters for both receiving and transmitting signals. To select the desired mode, there’s a corresponding switch on the transmitter’s body.

By size and power method, transmitters come in:

  • Mobile and stationary
  • With and without additional power.

Mobile transmitters are distinguished by their compact size—no larger than a USB flash drive. The adapter is powered by the connected device—phone, tablet, PC, or TV. There are larger models, about the size of a 2.5-inch SSD drive. These models require a separate power source, usually 5 Volts, so any phone charger or PowerBank will work. Some models have a built-in battery for autonomous operation.

Stationary transmitters require additional power and are larger—about the size of 6-6.5-inch phones. They need a separate power source, usually 5 Volts. These transmitters are better suited for use at home or in a car.

Do I need to download drivers for the Bluetooth adapter?

Driver installation isn’t required for most Bluetooth adapters. Just plug the adapter into your device and use it. However, you might find some older versions or inexpensive models with built-in drivers on the adapter itself or on a disc for installation. More often, manufacturers save money and offer drivers for download from their website.
