Shanling is expanding its ONIX line of compact devices with the addition of the Shanling ONIX Overture XM5, a flagship portable MP3 player. Previously, the ONIX lineup included the ONIX Mystic XP1 — DAC/headphone amplifier and the Shanling ONIX Miracle — a portable XM10 player/streamer platform.
Technical specifications of the new Shanling ONIX Overture XM5
Shanling ONIX Overture XM5 uses the DAC chip ESS Sabre ES9039S Pro from ESS Technology. This high-resolution 32-bit/768kHz DAC allows listening to DSD format up to DSD512 resolution. The player runs on the Ingenic X2000 platform, specially designed for high-definition music playback. The amplification section is built on an FPGA using two ultra linear class-AB amplifiers, the TPA6120. Output power at the headphone ports: 3.5mm and 4.4mm is up to 1070mW at 32 ohms. Wireless connection is realized with:
- 2.4G/5G Wi-Fi for DLNA, Airplay and Tidal online streaming functions.
- Bluetooth 5.2 for audio playback and transmission using LDAC, aptX HD, aptX, SBC, AAC codecs.
- 7000 mAh battery allows you to use the player for 14 hours on line out and 12 hours on BAL outputs without recharging.
- MicroSD card port up to 2TB.
The player can be controlled remotely via the Eddict Player app (Android and iOS) or on the built-in 3-inch 720p OLED touchscreen. The player runs on the ONIX operating system (not Android).
The list of playable formats is impressive: DSD, ISO, DXD, APE, FLAC, WAV, AIFF, AIF, AIF, DTS, MP3, WMA, AAC, OGG, ALAC, MP2, M4A, AC3, M3U, M3U8, OPUS.
