At the Made By Google event (August 13), the Pixel 9 and the new Google Pixel Buds Pro 2 wireless TWS headphones were unveiled. The Bluetooth headphones have a new design unlike the previous model. The in-ear headphones are equipped with dynamic drivers.
Pixel Buds Pro 2 wireless headphones – what’s interesting?
Sound: The earbuds are equipped with a specially designed 11mm dynamic driver and a new high-frequency chamber. They feature the Tensor A1 processor, the first Tensor chip used in earbuds, which enhances sound quality and noise-canceling efficiency.
Connectivity: The earbuds support Bluetooth 5.4 with LE Audio codecs for wireless connection to devices.
Noise Cancellation: The new generation of active noise cancellation (ANC), powered by the Tensor A1 processor and directional microphones, is twice as effective as the previous version, especially at blocking high-frequency noises. The Clear Calling feature enhances call clarity with an advanced sound processing algorithm. The Conversation Detection function automatically switches the ANC to transparency mode when you start speaking and reverts back when the conversation ends. The Find My Device feature, with an additional loudspeaker emitter, helps locate lost earbuds or the case. The earbuds’ Twist-to-adjust stabilizers allow for a secure and comfortable fit, even during active movement.
Sensors: Each earbud is equipped with:
- Three microphones to enhance ANC and track conversations.
- An IR sensor that detects when the earbuds are in your ears, automatically pausing playback when they are removed.
- An accelerometer that tracks the earbuds and head movements, adjusting sound and controlling playback based on activity.
- A gyroscope that works with the accelerometer to accurately track movements, useful for spatial audio and other interactions.
- Touch and swipe sensors for controlling music playback, volume, calls, and activating the voice assistant.
Protection: The earbuds have an IP54 rating, providing dust and water resistance, while the case is rated IPX4 for water resistance.
Battery: The earbuds offer up to 12 hours of playtime with ANC off and up to 8 hours with ANC on. With the case, the total playtime extends to 48 hours and 30 hours, respectively.
Colors: The earbuds are available in white, black, gray, blue, green, olive, and peony colors. The case remains white.
