What’s new? Here are the major changes to the wireless headphones compared to the previous Air4 Pro version. They now feature the new QCC3091 audio SoC (System on a Chip) with increased performance, replacing the QCC3071. The new audio system includes a 10mm dynamic driver, down from 13mm. LC3 and LDAC audio codec support has been added. Active noise cancellation now mutes up to 53dB, an increase from 45dB. Headphone battery life has also improved – 7.5 hours for the earbuds versus 6 hours previously, and a total of 37 hours with the charging case, up from 26 hours. Now, let’s explore all the innovations in more detail.

Sound. The Air5 Pro’s sound is handled by a 10mm dynamic driver. The last generation featured a 13mm driver, and the overall sound quality remains a solid 7 out of 10.
The Air5 Pro also boasts a new and higher-performing audio platform, powered by the QCC3091. Key upgrades include two signal processors instead of one, increased memory, and Bluetooth 5.4 support, replacing 5.3.
Finally, on the audio front, these headphones support seven audio codecs: SBC, AAC, aptX, aptX Adaptive, aptX Lossless, LC3, and LDAC. So, you won’t have to worry about compatibility between these headphones and your phone.
Noise Cancellation. The Active Noise Cancellation feature now silences up to 53dB of low-frequency noise, an increase from 45dB in the previous version. A transparency mode is included, allowing you to communicate without removing the headphones from your ears. There are also three microphones per earbud for communication, totaling six microphones. Software noise reduction is supported, along with Qualcomm’s cVc 8.0 echo and noise-canceling technology, a suite of algorithms designed for clear and stable voice transmission in various conditions.
Features. The headphones are IPX5 dust and water resistant, meaning they can withstand water jets, like rain. You can exercise outdoors or at the gym without fear of damaging them.
The SOUNDPEATS Air5 Pro headphones feature multi-point connectivity, a game mode, an earbud fit check, and a proprietary equalizer. All these settings can be customized within the official SoundPEATS app, available for both Android and iOS.
Headphone battery life has seen a slight increase: 7.5 hours for the earbuds compared to 6 hours previously, and a total of 37 hours with the charging case, up from 26. There’s also a form of fast charging, where 10 minutes in the case provides 2 hours of use. For comparison, I’m currently testing the Anker Soundcore Liberty 5 headphones, and 10 minutes of charging on those yields 5 hours of use. Can you tell the difference?
Price and Availability. The headphones are available for purchase on AliExpress for $64. Currently, they are only offered in black. It’s possible other colors will be available for the global version.
