Emphasized on sub-bass and upper midrange
What does the manufacturer offers in wired headphones Sivga P2-PRO
SIVGA P2-PRO Wired Headphones – Sound
This model uses planar drivers, which used to be produced less technologically advanced and had a high impedance, so you needed a powerful current source (amplifier) to listen to them. New models of planar drivers are available with lower impedance, allowing you to listen to planar headphones even on smartphones. Our SIVGA P2-PRO headphones have an impedance of 32 ohms, which makes it possible to listen even on weak sources. But for better disclosure of the headphones I use my players for tests, as they provide more accurate and detailed sound transmission, allowing you to fully unlock the potential of planar drivers and feel all the nuances of sound.
These are stock High-end players: the Questyle QP1R and Questyle QP2R, as well as the Hiby R3 Pro.
My audio preferences are oriented towards maximum accuracy to the original sound, without added effects or enhancements. That’s why I chose the Questyle QP1R as my primary source—its sound is the most reference-quality and closest to the original.
The SIVGA P2-PRO features an open-back design, allowing the diaphragm to move freely without restrictions from the rear side of the driver. This design enhances the clarity and naturalness of the sound. However, it also means that there is virtually no noise isolation: you will hear external sounds, and the music from the headphones will be audible to those around you. Therefore, these headphones are better suited for quiet environments, as they are not ideal for noisy places or public transport.
- Overall Sound Presentation – 9.5: SIVGA P2-PRO impresses from the first moment with its sound. They offer a balanced and slightly dry musical sound signature. The initial impression is of a neutral, linear, and well-balanced sound, almost monitor-like. They are quite melodic.
- Low Frequencies – 8.5: despite the open-back design of the SIVGA P2-PRO, the sub-bass remains linear and neutral without significant roll-off, providing good weight and reverberation when needed, such as in Linkin Park’s “Sorry for Now,” where the bass line is prominent from the start. The mid-bass is also linear and clean, as heard in Massive Attack’s “Angel,” where it maintains density and dynamics, delivering a deep and rich sound from the drums and bass guitar. However, there is a slight sense of lacking mid-bass.
- Mid Frequencies – 9: lower midrange frequencies sound clean and neutral. In Norah Jones’s “Don’t Know Why,” both male and female vocals are heard naturally and harmoniously, retaining their presence without excessive sharpness. Flutes and violins, as in Vivaldi’s “The Four Seasons,” have pleasant articulation and richness, highlighting the musicality of the midrange. The excellent midrange has won me over.
- High Frequencies – 9.5: lower high frequencies are balanced and smooth, avoiding sibilance or sharpness. The upper high frequencies are more pronounced, adding sparkle and brilliance to the music, as heard in Daft Punk’s “Giorgio by Moroder,” where cymbals and triangles are vivid but not overly harsh. High frequencies are open and airy, contributing to the brightness and energy of the music while remaining comfortable for the ears. The high frequencies are well-handled, with no irritating sounds—everything is very clean and airy.
- Detail retrieval – 10: SIVGA P2-PRO exhibits a high degree of detail, allowing for the capture of subtle nuances in recordings, such as background sounds or instrumental details. They maintain a balance between technical accuracy and musicality, providing clean sound without excessive sharpness or overemphasis on details.
- Soundstage – 9.5: the soundstage of the SIVGA P2-PRO is well-extended in both width and depth, with excellent separation of instruments and precise positioning. In Pink Floyd’s “Comfortably Numb,” the placement of guitars, vocals, and synthesizers is easily distinguishable, creating a spacious and realistic sound field. The sense of “presence” creates the impression of being at a live concert in an intimate venue, adding depth and richness to the sound.
- Sound Conclusion: these headphones impress with their sound, featuring an almost monitor-like frequency response. The sound has a dry character, attributed to the planar driver design, which results in a lack of warmth and velvety aura in the presentation. They are ideal for those who value natural, accurate sound with detailed accents and a wide soundstage. While they are not devoid of musicality and warmth, they remain highly faithful to the source material, making them an excellent choice for those who prefer precise reproduction without coloration.
The SIVGA P2-PRO is well-suited for various music genres such as jazz, classical, and rock, providing a balanced and rich sound that remains comfortable even during extended listening sessions. These headphones would be ideal for mixing recordings if they were in a closed-back design. They can offer an enjoyable listening experience for your favorite tracks.
Comparison with competitors
My preference for listening to music is in-ear wired headphones. Upon reviewing the nearly top-tier SIVGA P2-PRO, I couldn’t find any comparable models among those I had previously reviewed that matched them in terms of detail and clarity. All my previous full-sized headphones are dynamic models that fall short of the SIVGA P2-PRO in all respects. This model impresses with its sound and reminds me of the THIEAUDIO MONARCH Mk III. However, unlike the SIVGA P2-PRO, the MONARCH Mk III has a more melodic and warm sound with a pronounced V-shaped frequency response. Comparing full-sized headphones like the SIVGA P2-PRO with in-ear monitors like the THIEAUDIO MONARCH Mk III isn’t entirely fair, but in terms of sound, they are the closest.
