Beyerdynamic has released the DT 275 PRO — on-ear monitoring headphones for work in loud environments. At the manufacturer’s list price they cost about $139. The model is aimed at video shoots, sound on location, broadcasting and DJ work rather than listening at home.
The bet here is on passive isolation instead of electronic noise cancellation. Compact on-ear cups with leatherette pads press against the ear and physically cut off part of the outside noise, so the engineer hears speech and levels where the room is roaring around them. Beyerdynamic states controlled bass and low distortion at high volume for this model.

Serviceability as part of the design. The pads, the headband padding and the cable of the DT 275 PRO are replaced separately. For a working tool that matters more than a nice box: in headphones like these the cable and the pads wear out first, and usually the whole pair gets written off because of that.
