French insider billbil-kun (via Dealabs) revealed details of the Bose QuietComfort 2nd Gen — an update to the base 2023 model. According to the leak, the announcement is set for August 7 and the release for August 13, 2026, with a US price of $359. Bose is officially silent.
What the Insider Claims (Not Confirmed by Bose)
- Redesign: pill-shaped earcups, a wider adjustable headband, more faux leather
- Lossless over USB-C: the port now carries lossless audio (in the first generation it was for charging only)
- Spatial audio: Bose TrueSpatial
- New modes: Immersion, Cinema Mode and full ANC off; ActiveSense smooths sharp sounds in transparency mode
- Battery life: unchanged — up to 24 h with ANC, up to 18 h with spatial audio
- 6 colors: Black, White Smoke (smoky white), Rosewood Mauve (rosewood mauve), Eucalyptus Green (eucalyptus green), Dewdrop Mint (dewdrop mint), Hazelnut Taupe (hazelnut taupe)

Checked the primary source. I looked into the FCC database (Bose, grantee A94) — there is no fresh public filing for this exact model yet: the latest open ones are dated 2024, and the new one is most likely under confidentiality until the announcement. So the specs above are a leak, not confirmed facts. I’ll check on August 7.
Does this change the pick? Not yet — not until confirmation and a hands-on test. But if Lossless over USB-C and TrueSpatial are real, the base QuietComfort comes very close to the Ultra in features for less money. Then I’ll revisit the standings in the noise-cancelling headphones ranking.
