New HUAWEI FreeClip 2 S (2026) — Mirror-Polished Case, Spatial Audio and 38 Hours for $229

Huawei introduced the FreeClip 2 S at its July 14 event in Kuala Lumpur — an update to the FreeClip 2 clip-ons that I tested and called the best TWS clip-ons. Sales are already live: $229, with a launch price of $199 until August 21.

This is not a new form factor — it is a refinement of a proven one: the same open clip-on fit, the same driver. The changes are in the case, the bridge and the electronics. Let me break down the facts.

  • Driver: 10.8 mm, dual-diaphragm — same as FreeClip 2
  • Battery: 9 h buds, 38 h with the case
  • Protection: IP57 buds, IP54 case
  • Case: mirror-polished, almost a sphere, 20% more room inside
  • C-bridge (the little bridge on the earbud): liquid silicone, 25% softer, no ridges
  • Sound: spatial audio with head tracking
  • Colors: Deepsea Blue and Space Silver

Case. The main visible difference. Instead of the elongated pill — an almost spherical case with a mirror polish. Huawei promo calls it “the shimmer of sunlit water”; in reality it is gloss that reflects light: the case does not glow, there is no light inside. There is 20% more room — Huawei itself says it is “ideal for accessory collection” 😄. Tell me in the comments how you like the design — for me it is a downgrade. How the mirror survives a pocket with keys is a question for testing.

Bridge. The C-bridge — the arc between the “ball” and the “bean” — is now liquid silicone, 25% softer and without the ridges of the previous version. For clip-ons this is the core ergonomics: the bridge decides whether you forget them after an hour or take them off.

Brains. Huawei claims an NPU with 10x the computing power — it runs spatial audio with head tracking and Adaptive Volume: three microphones read the noise around you and adjust music and call volume. What really affects the sound and what stays a presentation number — testing will show.

Build. These are open clip-ons: your ears stay free and you hear your surroundings — that is why people buy this format. The flip side: passive isolation is zero, the subway will not get any quieter.

Price. $229 is the premium tier of clip-ons. For comparison: SoundPEATS Clip1 — my pick under $50 — costs over four times less, though it is simpler than the benchmark Huawei FreeClip 2.

I know this format hands-on — I reviewed the Huawei FreeClip 2 against the original FreeClip. Tell me in the comments: should I take the FreeClip 2 S in for testing? Subscribe to MyChooz on Telegram and YouTube so you don’t miss the review if it happens.
