
FiiO started selling the JadeAudio JT9 open over-ear headphones on August 13. They feature a 95 × 86 mm planar driver with an ultra-thin 1-µm diaphragm. In China, they launched at about $148, with international sales handled through FiiO’s official AliExpress store. This isn’t a new announcement, but the actual start of sales, which were first shown in February.
In China, the JadeAudio JT9 launched on August 13 for around $148. While FiiO hasn’t set an official international dollar price, you can find them on AliExpress for $164. FiiO’s official store on AliExpress is handling international sales, with deliveries rolling out to various countries. Currently, only the black model is available, but FiiO says a dark brown version is coming.


In our review of the JadeAudio JT9, we’ll see if a smartphone can drive them without a dedicated amplifier. FiiO claims a sensitivity of 95 dB/mW and says they’re easy to drive. We’ll also investigate if the sapphire-aluminum diaphragm coating and 28-nm process technology, which FiiO says improve detail retrieval and voice coil durability, make a noticeable difference. Finally, we’ll assess the comfort of these 365-gram open-back headphones, as FiiO claims they don’t exert the typical pressure on your head associated with this style.
