Skullcandy has always relied on heavy physical bass — in Crusher headphones, the earcups literally vibrate. Now, the brand has added Bose tech to its flagship model. The Crusher 1080 ANC features “Sound by Bose”: Bose QuietControl adaptive noise cancellation, Bose TrueSpatial audio, and the Bose WaveForm audio engine. This is Bose software, not Bose hardware. They are asking $279.99 for the headphones, and I am figuring out what this combination actually delivers.

What you get for this money: QuietControl blocks outside noise, TrueSpatial positions the soundstage around your head, and WaveForm keeps the timbre flat at any volume. The signature Crusher tactile bass remains in place.
Connectivity and battery life. The model operates on Bluetooth 5.3 with LE Audio, Auracast, and multipoint. But LDAC and aptX are not listed — only basic SBC and AAC are left for wireless, so I would not count on maximum wireless quality here. Battery life is fine, though: up to 60 hours without ANC and up to 50 hours with it, while a 10-minute charge yields about 4 hours.
Who is it for. The Crusher 1080 is for those who want physical bass and Bose ANC in one pair of headphones and are willing to pay $279.99. Just keep in mind: “Sound by Bose” is processing and tuning, not a guarantee that Skullcandy will sound like Bose, and tactile bass is a niche feature.
