Ozlo is selling the Sleepbuds 2, the second generation of earbuds built for sleep only. On the brand’s own site they cost $279, and at launch Ozlo adds a sleep mask and a travel case to the box: the company values the whole bundle at $337, while the mask alone sells for $29.
What interests me here is not the price but the omissions. These earbuds have no active noise cancelling and no microphone, which means that neither calls nor a voice assistant are available. Ozlo says it plainly: passive isolation through silicone tips works together with sound masking, and by the company’s own testing that pairing handles a bedroom better than ANC does. That is the brand’s claim, and I will have to check it by ear.

No microphone. There is one microphone in this system and it is installed in the case, where Ozlo uses it to measure the noise level in the bedroom. The earbuds themselves have no microphone at all, so calls are impossible. For earbuds at $279 that looks strange, but the model is meant for bed rather than for the street. The same case holds temperature, light and noise sensors, while the accelerometer in the earbuds determines the moment of falling asleep.
The case outweighs an earbud sixty times over. An earbud weighs 1.6 g and the case weighs 96 g with dimensions of 78 × 78 × 27 mm. The case battery covers another two or three charges, but the case does not support wireless charging: Ozlo answers that question in its FAQ with a single word, no. It works constantly rather than only while charging, because it measures the noise level and serves as a transmitter, which means that it stands next to the bed at night.
The brand states range in two different ways. The specification on the page says that the case should be kept within 10 feet of distance, and the phone should be kept within 30 feet of distance. The FAQ on the same page gives different numbers: the earbuds work at a distance of up to 10 feet from the case, and the case works at a distance of up to 10 feet from the source device. This is a contradiction inside one document, so I take the stricter version, roughly 3 metres of range on each leg of the link, and I do not present it as the exact figure of the manufacturer.
Where to buy. Ozlo sells them itself, through its own store. The price of $279 is listed there, and the launch bundle with the sleep mask is described as well. The brand promises returns within 30 days and one year of warranty, while for the European Union and the United Kingdom the warranty amounts to two years.

Ozlo assembled that table on its own page, and the difference in it is fair: 1.6 g of weight against 5.2 g of weight, and up to 14 hours of runtime against 5-6 hours of runtime. The stated 14 hours of runtime and 1.6 g of weight look impressive in the specifications, but for sleep the deciding factor is not weight — it is whether the tip stays in the ear all night on your side and whether the masking itself gets in the way.
