I don’t believe I’m writing this, but the Realme Buds Air 7 PRO Bluetooth headphones for $66, with the prospect of the price dropping to $50, are a game changer. They surpassed the sound quality of top models like the Oneplus Buds 3 Pro ($120) and the Huawei Freebuds Pro 4 ($168), despite those models being over $100 more expensive. In some ways, the Realme Buds Air 7 PRO in-ear headphones are much better; in others, the difference in sound is insignificant. Functionally, the model is not the best. However, in future reviews, I will focus specifically on the sound of the Realme Buds Air 7 PRO. This is a long-awaited review of a long-awaited model—here we go.
Let me tell you right away, friends: I have the Chinese version of these wireless headphones; when I ordered, the global version was not yet available. The price of this TWS headphone model is now $66, which is a sale price. A little later, the price will be around $70, and then it will gradually drop to $50, as usual. The model surprised me very pleasantly and met my expectations; it has significant pros and cons (read the review to the end). But we can breathe a sigh of relief, because the update was successful, and it is a significant improvement compared to the Realme Buds Air 6 PRO.
In the Realme Buds Air 7 PRO review, I will of course compare these noise-canceling headphones with several models: the competitor Oneplus Buds 3 ($53) and Oneplus Buds Pro 3 ($120); the previous generation Realme Buds Air 6 PRO ($49); the younger version Realme Buds Air 7 ($35); and the benchmark for TWS models, the Huawei Freebuds Pro 4 ($168). And to all those models you asked me to compare the new Realme to in previous updates, thank you for the 500+ likes needed for the review.
TikTok got 5,000 likes. And for important questions to shorts, with a first look. The experience of such a “first look” successful, for important models, I will ask you what you want to know about the model and in the review to answer these questions.
Don’t miss the latest news, reviews and ratings about good sound.
The most interesting thing about the Realme Buds Air 7 PRO is what the manufacturer claims:
Simultaneous and live translation, 45ms audio delay, LHDC 5.0 codec instead of LDAC, new design like the regular 7 (with minor changes), Bluetooth 5.4 instead of 5.3, dual driver amplifier, improved noise modulation and improved battery life to 12 hours and 48 hours with the case, it was 10 and 40 hours respectively. Yes, the case is now metal, which is very MacBook-like in the headphone world and looks/feels a lot better.
Sound – Realme Buds Air 7 PRO
Pay attention to the sound guide. Apparently, the manufacturer placed the planar driver perpendicular to the dynamic driver and as close to the eardrum as possible. This was not the case with OnePlus, previous Realme and TWS models, and this is the first time I’ve seen such an approach.
The manufacturer added a dual amplifier for separate bass and treble control. Otherwise, we have the same sized 11mm dynamic driver and 6mm planar driver as in the 6 Pro.
My expectations for the sound were that it would just be an upgrade. Yes the model will be better than the previous 6 Pro, maybe better than OnePlus Buds 3. But what the headphones delivered… My jaw dropped.
By default, Realme Buds Air 7 PRO produce perfectly balanced sound using LHDC 5.0 codec. By AAC, for example, if you buy these Realme for iPhone, the drop in quality is 15-20% percent. The scene is a little narrower, detail is a little worse, the tops are not so bright. Even so, the sound is at a great level. But it gets worse than the OnePlus Buds Pro 3 on LHDC. This is the level of the regular OnePlus Buds 3. If we make an analogy by codec, with LHDC it’s a 4k image, and by AAC it’s Full HD, also great, but not as detailed and cool.
I recommend making sure to enable high-definition sound in the app (that’s what LHDC 5.0 is) if your phone supports it. And I recommend sizing the ear cushions to fit. Customize the golden hearing profile, however I liked it better without customization. With it, the sound becomes too close, intrusive. The best EQ setting is “original sound”, without tuning.
Frequency balance is 10/10 (❗️benchmark). The balance is perfect, neither add nor remove. Bottom is as much as you need, middle is transparent, highs are bright and sometimes they are too much and you want to crank them up in EQ.
Midrange is 10/10 (❗️benchmark). Liam’s vocals in Oasis – Wonderwall sound so open, as if he is singing directly to you, sitting on the chair opposite. It’s the same feeling in the song(Michael Jackson – Man in the Mirror). Probably the best midrange I’ve ever heard in TWS headphones.
Treble – 10/10 (❗️benchmark). (Eagles – Hotel California).(Daft Punk – Get Lucky, Lose Yourself to Dance). I was going to give it a -0.5 for excessive brightness. But after thinking about it, I’d call except for Huawei on the level, but they’re less detailed and bright. In Oasis, Michael Jackson highs are too much, after a while it gets tiring. In Huawei the highs are less bright, but more harmonious. I liked Relame’s treble better in most of the songs. Such brightness is more a peculiarity of recording and genres, in most test tracks everything is ok. This should be taken into account and can be adjusted in the equalizer, to taste.
Detail – 10/10 (❗️benchmark). You can hear primary and secondary parts, you can even hear 3rd-step sounds, breaths, new colors that were hard to hear in TWS headphones. The headphones sound delightful.(Oasis – Dont Go Away). Johnny Cash in the song – Hurt sings to you while sitting on a chair in the kitchen. It sounds incredible.
Scene – 10/10 (❗️benchmark). A stage with clear separation of instruments. There is no bloated bass and the instruments are all clearly placed in different places where the sound engineer has placed them.(Michael Jackson – Man in the Mirror). (Yosi Horikawa – Bubbles).
Naturalness – 10/10 (❗️benchmark). Bass sounds natural, it’s always clear whether it’s a synthesizer, an electric bass, or a live double bass. Tops, also excellent, natural, iron sounds like iron, guitar strings, shakers, everything is excellent.(Sting – Englishman in New York). (Lenny Kravitz – Low). Nothing to pick on.
Realme Buds Air 7 PRO sound rating among all TWS headphones is 10/10 (❗️ the new benchmark for sound).
The main disadvantage of the sound is perhaps sometimes too bright treble in some songs and genres. The main plus point of the sound is the sound itself. It is simply delightful and the best sound I have tested so far. Realme Buds Air 7 PRO is the best option for those who are looking for universal headphones for all genres. Engagement with music 10/10. I want to dance and listen to entire albums of music. You don’t want to take the headphones off, they sound divine!
🎸 For which genres are the Realme Buds Air 7 PRO best suited?
🚀 How to improve the sound of Realme Buds Air 7 PRO?
The size of the ear cushions – if you want to replace with third party ones:
Cushion height – 8 mm
The height of the sound guide is 3.5 mm
The width of the ear cushion is 7.5 mm
Physical enhancements:
Select the correct eartips. Use the appropriately sized tips so the earbuds fit snugly in your ears. In the official app, you can usually take an eartip fit test.
earbud break-in: New earbud might sound a bit constrained—breaking them in opens up the sound.
Removing protective meshes ❗️Risk → may damage the headphones, do only if you understand the consequences. Allows to free up the sound flow and unleash the drivers’ potential.
Software enhancements:
Maximum audio file quality To get the best sound, always use the highest quality files. Below are recommended streaming services and their formats: Deezer HiFi: Offers FLAC 1411 kbps (whereas Premium only has MP3 320 kbps). Apple Music: Provides ALAC up to 24-bit / 192 kHz. Spotify Premium: Offers AAC 320 kbps. For offline file playback, the best player is Neutron Music Player (available for Android and iOS). To achieve maximum sound quality, it is recommended to listen to files in FLAC / ALAC formats.
Customize the equalizer to your liking. Adjust the equalizer settings in the official app, streaming service, or player. Try different presets, adjust frequencies manually.
Install the official app → read detailed setup recommendations below in this review. The app usually provides firmware updates, an equalizer, codec selection, and a fit test. You can set up a personal sound profile by taking various tests.
Use the best codec – LHDC. Your phone (source) and headphones must support this codec. Often, the best codec is activated in the official app.
🎮 Sound in games 8/10 – the lag is noticeable, the sound itself is suitable for gaming:
Sound delay – 8/10. significantly noticeable without game mode 0.5 sec, in game mode is reduced by 2 times. Playing is generally comfortable. Ultra Low Latency of 45 sec is not confirmed. When switching to AAC codec the latency is reduced even more to 100 ms. I recommend playing on it.
📌 What are we listening to? ✅ Footsteps and gunshots → sound responds instantly or is it delayed? ✅ Low delay mode → does it give real improvement? ✅ Synchronicity → at sharp turns camera and sound coincide or not?
🎧 1-5/10 → severe delay from 500ms, sound lags, impossible to play. 🎧 6-7/10 → slight delay up to 100ms, but still playable. 🎧 8-10/10 → sound matches perfectly with picture 20-40ms, no delay.
The sound in games is 8/10. It is much more interesting with spatial sound. Playing is comfortable.
📌 What are we listening to? ✅ Enemy footsteps → can you clearly hear where the enemy is coming from? ✅ Shots and explosions → is the sound realistically localized in space? ✅ Scene panorama → are front/back/side sounds distinguishable?
🎧 1-5/10 → sound is chaotic, footsteps and shooting indistinguishable, from one point. 🎧 6-7/10 → direction is audible, but detail is poor. 🎧 8-10/10 → accurate 3D positioning, easy to identify enemy by sound.
📊 How we score, music and sources.
It’s about benchmarks. And about tracks for the test + links. Standards for the test. Standards for the test – source, codec, streaming, volume.
Tests are conducted using a OnePlus 11 phone (Android) and an iPhone 14 Pro (iOS), via Deezer HiFi streaming (regarding this subscription) in FLAC format (1411 kbps).
My playlist for headphone testing:
Michael Jackson – P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing). Pop-Funk. ✅ Low-frequency response and Naturalness Check – The timbre of the main bass synth should sound natural and be clearly audible. The bass here is powerful but should not overpower other frequency ranges. ✅ Detail and Soundstage Width Check – Backing vocals and percussion in the right channel should be distinctly audible. ✅ Treble and HF Naturalness Check – The drum cymbals/hardware in this track should sound smooth and natural, without harshness or sibilance. The drums in this song are simply superbly recorded and mixed (Jonathan Moffett – a drumming virtuoso).
Oasis – Don’t Go Away. Alternative Rock, Brit Pop. ✅ Naturalness Check – The acoustic guitar should sound natural. ✅ Low-frequency response Check – The kick drum, toms, and snare in this track are mixed quite far back; with poor bass, the drum fills will simply be inaudible. ✅ Mid-range Check – Liam’s voice should sound open and not be muffled. This track has many live instruments that can easily obscure the mid-range and vocals, adding muddiness or a veiled quality to the voice. ✅ Treble and Naturalness Check – At the end of the song, my favorite part is the acoustic guitar and tambourine break; they should separate from each other and sound natural, without harshness or artificiality.
Twenty One Pilots – Backslide. Hip-Hop, Alternative Pop. ✅ Detail Check. In this track, Tyler created many backing vocals with and without effects (as always); they should be clearly separated and audible. ✅ Soundstage Width Check – The shaker that appears and disappears, moving from channel to channel, perfectly demonstrates the breadth of the sound. This is also true for the backing vocals, which are excellently panned across the channels.
Adele – Rolling in the Deep. Pop, Soul, Blues. ✅ Mid-range and Vocal Check – Adele’s voice here should be clear, with a sense of presence, without veil or muddiness.
Eagles – Hotel California (Live on MTV, 1994). Rock, Country-Rock. God bless whoever recorded and mixed this live performance. ✅ Soundstage Width Check – Crowd sounds, background effects, instrument placement. ✅ Treble Check – The two shakers in the left and right channels should be clearly audible and not sound synthetic.

Realme Buds Air 7 PRO – Comparison with Competitors:
Comparison with the main competitor, the Oneplus Buds 3 ($53) and the Oneplus Buds 3 pro ($120):
Realme Buds Air 7 PRO ($66) vs Oneplus Buds 3 ($53) vs Oneplus Buds 3 Pro ($120)
The sound of the Realme Buds Air 7 PRO has more detail and clearer images, with sound separation. The midrange is as clear as the palm of your hand, vocals are heard better than in OnePlus Buds 3. These are probably the key differences. Naturalness is slightly better in Realme. The sound is more accurate. Better on the HF is significantly better. Bass in Realme, more textured and less bloated.
The OnePlus Buds 3 are more bass-heavy, the mids are quite tucked away in contrast, the highs are a little less bright and detailed. The stage seems wider with OnePlus Buds 3 because of the voluminous bass, but it’s like a spatial sound effect and it’s actually a false volume. And the positioning of instruments is not quite clear. Overall, the sound is softer and lower pitched.
MyChooz among the 2 models is the Realme Buds Air 7 PRO ($66). I recommend the OnePlus Buds 3 for fans of low-frequency and soft sound. Perfect for hip-hop, electronica, etc. genres. Realme – for a balanced, more honest and accurate sound. It’s better in every way. If OnePlus is an 8 out of 10. Realme Buds Air 7 PRO is 10 out of 10.
The sound of the Realme Buds Air 7 PRO is more similar in M.O. to the Oneplus Buds 3 Pro than the regular Oneplus Buds 3.
Realme Buds Air 7 PRO sound better than Oneplus Buds 3 Pro, Realme must have overdone it 😄. The structure of the bass is heard better, the lows are more pleasant. The midrange in Realme Buds Air 7 PRO is more transparent (10/10) and you can hear vocals much better, they are right in front of you. When in the Oneplus Buds 3 Pro (9/10) a slight veil is heard in contrast. The highs are a little brighter, sometimes that’s a minus. The stage is about the same. Naturalness is better in Realme, detail too. My choice is Realme Buds Air 7 PRO.
The sound of Oneplus Buds 3 Pro is 9/10, Realme Buds Air 7 PRO is 10/10. Better by 1 point. The sound is better in all parameters.
Comparison to the Previous Generation – Realme Buds Air 6 PRO ($49):
Realme Buds Air 7 PRO ($66) vs Realme Buds Air 6 PRO ($49)
The Realme Buds Air 7 PRO outperform the Realme Buds Air 6 PRO on all counts. The sound is better by 3 points out of 10. LDAC codec comparison. This is a huge step forward.
MyChooz among the Realme Buds Air 7 PRO ($66) and the Realme Buds Air 6 PRO ($49) is the Realme Buds Air 7 PRO.
Comparison with the ETHALON – Huawei Freebuds Pro 4 ($168):
Realme Buds Air 7 PRO ($66) vs Huawei Freebuds Pro 4 ($168)
MyChooz among the Realme Buds Air 7 PRO ($66) and the Huawei Freebuds Pro 4 ($168) is the Realme Buds Air 7 PRO by a slight margin.
The bass is on par. Bass is just as quality and textured. – Parity
The mids are better in Realme Buds Air 7 PRO – vocals are more transparent. 10 out of 10. Huawei 9.5 out of 10.
Highs are cooler in Realme. 10 out of 10. Huawei 9.5 out of 10.
Realme’s stage is a wider 10 out of 10, Huawei’s is a 9 out of 10.
Natural is better in Realme 10 out of 10, Huawei is 9.5 out of 10.
Detail is better in Realme 10 out of 10, Huawei is 9 out of 10.
The sound quality of the Realme Buds Air 7 PRO is very close in pitch to the Huawei Freebuds Pro 4.
However, in Realme, the sound turned out to be more interesting, accurate, harmonious, balanced. I don’t believe I’m saying this, but Realme Buds Air 7 PRO were able to outplay the benchmark Huawei, not by much, by 0.5 points, then it’s amazing. They are almost 3 times cheaper. In terms of features and design Huawei will still be better and the overall score is higher, but what Realme have produced is something with something.
Comparison with other models (that viewers/readers have asked for)
In fact the comparison in terms of sound is further meaningless. Realme is better than the tops in terms of sound. That means 3 points out of 10 heads are cooler than CMF Buds Pro 2, better than the basic version 7. Pro 3 points. Better than Nothing Buds 3 and Anker Soundcore Liberty 4 Pro by 2 points. Cooler than Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro 3, Sony WF 1000MX5 by 1.5. I don’t see the point in describing it at length here.
Functions
Realme Buds Air 7 PRO microphone – 8/10. In noisy conditions – 7/10. In quiet conditions – 9/10:
Realme Buds Air 6 PRO microphone – 8/10. In noisy conditions – 7/10. In quiet conditions – 9/10:
Comparison with the benchmark Huawei Freebuds Pro 4 ($170) – 9.75/10. In quiet conditions – 9.5/10. In noisy conditions – 10/10.
Noise reduction – 7/10 (❗️benchmark Sony WF 1000XM5). Better by 0.5 points compared to the 6 Pro. Still misses the tops knowledgeably, but better than it was. For better performance you need to uncheck “wind noise”, the function is working in strong wind, works cool. But with it noise modulation deteriorates by 30%, approximately. Transparency mode – 8/10 (❗️benchmark Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro 3). Quality is up too, by 1 point. Compared to the 6 Pro. Comfortable to use
Battery life – 9/10 (❗️benchmark Anker Soundcore Liberty 4 NC – 10h, 50h). The headphones run time is 12 hours and 48 hours with the case, it was 10 and 40 hours respectively in 6 Pro. In fact – we get 5 hours of work at 50% volume, with noise reduction enabled, by LHDC codec. And 20 hours total with the case. There is no wireless charging. Fast charging there are 10 minutes, give 11 hours of listening time.
Control – 7.5/10 (❗️benchmark Apple Airpods Pro 2). It works with a delay of 0.5 sec, as in the regular version, it’s annoying, but you can get used to it. Flat feet are more comfortable than the round ones in the 6 Pro, there are almost no false touches and non-falls. Control is touch, touch, no pinching. Control is standard, the scheme below. What pleased me, the volume is adjusted by swipes up and down, which is not in the regular version. Not ideal as in Airpods, but it’s okay to use. The control can be reconfigured in the app.
Control Scheme:
Left earbud controls:
Double tap – Play/Pause
Triple tap – Next track
Press and hold – Switch noise cancellation modes
Right earbud controls:
Double tap – Play/Pause
Triple tap – Next track
Press and hold – Switch noise cancellation modes
The app is 10/10 (❗️benchmark). Realme Link for Android or for iOS is a reference. Everything you need is there, it’s a must download. The main thing I recommend using: set up high definition sound or enable LHDC 5.0 codec, pass the test “golden sound profile” For games low latency mode and spatial audio. There is also a 6 band equalizer and even a simple 3 band equalizer, this is dynamic audio.
All available features in the app:
Available in the app:
Displays the battery charge level.
Activate and set active noise reduction (ANC), transparency mode, and disable these functions.
Anti-wind function
Equalizer and audio presets. Dynamic audio – 3 band equalizer
Activation of high-definition audio by LHDC codec
Sound personalization and spatial audio.
Control reconfiguration
Searching for lost headphones
Selecting the right ear cushions
Low latency mode
Headphone search function
Firmware update.
Integration with voice assistant
Answering calls when the case is opened and headphones are put on
Game mode
Connection stability 10/10 (❗️benchmark). Within 10m – no disconnects or stutters. Bluetooth version 5.4.
Important features and sensors:
Multipoint is.
Auto pause when headphones are removed – is.
Google Fast Pair support – yes
Swift Pair support for Windows is available.
And about simultaneous and live translation in 32 common languages. The translation is performed on the smartphone, and the result is announced in a split second in the right or left earpiece. We were promised this feature, but it’s not yet available for the global app. Translation uses the cloud-based Chinese AI platform iFlytek Spark 4.0 Ultra. This feature only works in China. You can tambourine and try to set this up in the app by changing the region in the app, the app will be in Chinese, but I decided to just wait until May 27, when it will be introduced for the global version, in all regions, order the second global version and sweat it out normally. After that, the review will be updated on the site.
By the way, from the differences between globalka and Chinese version. The official release of globalka on May 27 and 100% will be 100% clear exactly what the difference is. LDAC will be added or there will be LHDC 5.0 in the global version. Judging by the leaks, there will be LHDC 5.0. Significant differences are not expected. The only voicing of notifications of noise reduction and transparency I have in Chinese. In the globalka will be English. You can safely order the Chinese one now. Although on Ali is available already and global, before the release. I haven’t checked, but the link will be in the description.
Design
The overall rating for the design is 9/10. Comfort – 9/10. Durability – 9/10. Design – 9/10.
Design comfort is 9/10 (❗️benchmark Apple Airpods Pro 2). The comfort of the headphones is at an excellent level, the compactness of the case is about the same as it was in the 6 Pro, only now it’s a rectangle. The dimensions of the case are the same in pro and non-pro. The headphones are comfortable to carry in your pocket. The case can be opened with one hand. Aripdos Pro 2 benchmark 10/10. For flaws (-1 point for case dimensions). The headphones themselves are very comfortable.
Material quality and durability – 9/10 (❗️benchmark). Water and dust protection IP55 – jets of water and dust, you can’t listen to them in the shower. The case emerald and gray color is metal, and sandy white and fire red with imitation under the texture of leather (as it is done in OnePlus Buds Pro 3, plastic, so-so). Get it in metal, I recommend it, it’s just fire. The scratch resistance is excellent. -1 point for glossy headphones, will scratch. The headphones collect fingerprints. The matte body of the headphones in the regular version is made much nicer.
Appearance – 9/10 (❗️benchmark Apple Airpods Pro 2). Realme Buds Air 7 PRO – available in 4 colors, emerald, gray, sandy white and fire red. I liked the design. The headphones are small, unusual, look for their price. For cons (-1 point for the glossy finish).
Bottom line
Realme Buds Air 7 PRO for $66 were able to rub the nose of OnePlus Buds Pro 3 and Huawei Freebuds Pro 4, I still can’t believe it. BBK Concern, which produces Realme, OnePlus, Oppo and Vivo apparently overdid it and how they will sell OnePlus now is a big question 😁. Although I think this is a lead-in to the new versions of OnePlus Buds 4 and Pro 4 (due out in summer-fall). If they give at least the same sound and improved features, these will be almost perfect headphones. And I will definitely compare these Realme with Technics EAH-AZ100, soon. Meet the final boss.
Bottom line. This is the best sound among TWS – at least for the coming months. The model is not the best in features, but everything is on the level. Good microphone, noise reduction which is comfortable to use, transparency is good. Autonomy and control is not super, but nothing critical. The app and design are excellent.
MyChooz is 100%, you can take it. I hope the durability will not fail, this model will cover all your headphone needs for the next year. Unless you’re always looking for even better sound like me.
