Sennheiser Accentum Plus is a wireless full-size headphone and new for 2024. Sennheiser positions this model as a more inexpensive option, compared to the top model Sennheiser Momentum 4 Wireless, which is the flagship of the company. The main strengths of Sennheiser Accentum Plus, which the manufacturer claims:

  • Sennheiser’s signature Sennheiser sound, personalized sound adjustment and in-app equalizer.
  • Adaptive Noise Cancellation.
  • Autonomy of 50 hours and fast charging. In 10 minutes we get 5 hours of listening time.

In this review on the Sennheiser Accentum Plus, I will tell you how things really are. I’ll compare the Sennheiser Accentum Plus ($229) to a simplified version of the Sennheiser Accentum ($179) and the flagship Sennheiser Momentum 4 Wireless ($379), which I’ve been using for a year and a half. For 2 months of testing I have identified the main pros and cons of the model, the answer to who and why to buy Sennheiser Accentum Plus headphones is there. But first things first.

SOUND

2024 04 20 18.33.30

What do we have regarding sound in the Sennheiser Accentum Plus by default? 37mm dynamic drivers. Support for aptX™, aptX adaptive™, AAC, SBC codecs. EQ settings in the Sennheiser Smart Control app and customization of your own sound profile. What kind of sound do we get in Sennheiser Accentum Plus?

In terms of stage, detail and naturalness:

  • Detail is good all instruments can be heard clearly individually. Backing vocals and background instruments are audible. It is always clear on the highs what kind of percussion it is now sounding, or it is the iron of the drums.
  • The stage is a little wider than the head. Would have liked a little more for the money.
  • The naturalness of the timbres of instruments and vocals is good. No hiccups and synthetics.

On frequencies:

Sennheiser Accentum Plus - АЧХ

  • Bass and drum are well separated from each other and readable. The bass is slightly overpowering the midrange and treble.
  • Vocals and instruments, midrange frequencies are slightly masked behind the lows.
  • There is a bit of grit in thehighs, in the sound of the drums, but not critical. The highs are not bright, balanced and moderate.

Sound on cable:

  • Thesound gets worse when connected by wire, when connected to a smartphone, via the included cable. The stage shrinks a lot, the highs start to tsk tsk, a lot of detail is lost. The volume is not enough.

Sound in games and lag:

  • Thesound in games is good, not as bright and voluminous as I would like, but to play PUBG and other shooters – enough with a head. Especially in bass boost mode.
  • Thedelay is barely noticeable, it’s comfortable to play.

Sound conclusion

Thesound is balanced without clearly dominant frequencies. With a slightly raised bass, with a slight accent. The headphones are suitable for non-bass music, classic rock music listens well (Chris Rea), even nu metal (SOAD) to me went well. As for Hip Hop music, the bass is not high enough quality and enveloping (Eminem – Ass Like That).

  • Sound under $250 among full-size wireless headphones – 8.5 out of 10. Sony WH-1000XM4 – 10 out of 10.
  • Soundunder $500 among full-size wireless headphones – 7 out of 10. Sennheiser Momentum 4 Wireless 10 out of 10.

Comparing Sennheiser Accentum VS Accentum Plus VS Momentum 4

2024 04 20 18.33.27

  • Sennheiser Accentum Wireless ($179) – The simplest sound among the 3 models. Available aptX™ HD, AAC, SBC codecs. Less stage, less detail. Bass is less, treble is worse. Midrange is about the same. The sound is compressed. It’s not emotional, it doesn’t get you high. Maybe it’s the Accentum Plus, but still. It’s not $180 sound, it’s on the $100 level. On par with the 1More SonoFlow and SoundCore Space One models.
  • Sennheiser Accentum Plus Wireless ($229) – The sound is significantly better than the base version of the Sennheiser Accentum. Available aptX™, aptX adaptive™, AAC, and SBC codecs. It’s like a veil has been removed from my eyes. The bottoms opened up, the highs opened up. The stage is wider, there’s more detail, and timbres are more natural.
  • Sennheiser Momentum 4 Wireless ($379) – have a larger dynamic driver 42mm, compared to 47mm in Accentum and Plus. This has had a significant impact on the sound. Available aptX™ Adaptive, AAC, SBC codecs. The sound is much wider, much more detailed, the timbres are more pleasing. More bass, more readable treble. I immediately began to hear backing vocals clearly, as well as the background underpinnings of synths and other background instruments. The music is significantly more emotional and edgy. A top is a top.

Bottom line. Yes, the difference is significant in steps up. The difference between the Momentum 4 and the Accentum Plus is certainly not $150. It’s there, and the Momentum 4s sound better. But the Accentum Plus come close to that sound, yes, it’s not as detailed, not as wide, less enveloping bass. But the Sennheiser Accentum Plus Wireless deliver sound for the full $250. The base Sennheiser Accentum Wireless are a little disappointing, right there is about a hundred bucks difference. I highly recommend you to add this 50$ and take Accentum Plus Wireless, this fifty bucks is more than justified. And if you can get the top-of-the-line Sennheiser Momentum 4 Wireless ($379), it’s definitely worth it.

Other differences between the Sennheiser Accentum VS Accentum Plus VS Momentum 4

Microphone:

2024 04 20 18.33.33

The microphone is of average quality at 7 out of 10, expected better. In the basic version of Sennheiser Accentum Wireless – the quality is the same. The Sennheiser Momentum 4 Wireless is much better at 9 out of 10. The other party will understand you even in noisy conditions. But the quality of the voice itself is squeezed and unnatural. When recording on the voice recorder, when you press the Rec button, there is background noise of 5-10% volume. It’s rather strange, I’ve never encountered it before. It sounds as if, somewhere far away, in the next doorway, the neighbor decided to take out the drill again and make a 310th hole in the wall. But this is only when recording sound, when talking on the phone there is no background noise.

Inquiet conditions:

In noisy conditions:

For comparison:

Features

  • Noise reduction is okay at 8 out of 10. Great noise reduction for its price – 80% of noise is squashed.
  • Transparency is normal at 6 out of 10, you can hear the world around you not as much as you would like. But you can talk to the salesman in the store. There is background noise. You can hear the wind when it blows on the headphones. Anti-wind mode does not particularly save, there are few changes.
  • Bluetooth 5.2, connectivity and stability is a 10 out of 10. There were no dropped calls or stutters.
  • Battery life is excellent at 9 out of 10. 50 hours of music playback. 10 min of work gives 5 hrs of music listening. Full charge 3.5 hours.

Application

2024 04 21 13.08.33

The Sennheiser Smart Control app (Android / iOS) is a 9 out of 10. Great has almost everything you need. What was missing was the customization of the controls to suit. Otherwise, it has:

  • Headphone charge display.
  • Firmware update.
  • Connection control and multipoint.
  • Equalizer. There are 7 presets available for different genres. You can customize and save your settings on the 5 band equalizer. There are 2 sound modes: bass boost and podcast.
  • There is a personalized sound setup for yourself, with passing tests.
  • Customize sound zones, up to 20 saved settings for home, gym, office and so on.

  • Other modes. Comfort call – voice improvement during calls. Auto pause. Auto answer calls. Auto power off. Tone messages. Codec display. Factory reset.

Design and comfort

The appearance is a 9 out of 10, excellent, just like the Sennheiser Momentum 4 Wireless. The headphones are available in black and white colors.sennheiser accentum plus wireless

Design comfort is an 8 out of 10. The headphones are comfortable, you can spend 2-3 hours without fatigue. However, in the Sennheiser Momentum 4 Wireless, the comfort is a 9 out of 10. -1 point, the headphones do not fold, at most you can turn the bowls.

Material quality and durability at 9 out of 10 – on a good level. The headphones are made of matte plastic. Headband made of rubberized material similar to silicone. The ear cushions are made of leather or quality leather. Everything swivels and adjusts smoothly. The only thing is that the headphones on the cups collected small scratches.

Bottom line

2024 04 20 18.33.32

The Sennheiser Accentum Plus Wireless ($229) is an excellent full-size wireless model in the mid-price segment. Balanced and moderately bassy sound with aptX adaptive™ codec, excellent noise cancellation, easy-to-use controls, a functional app, and a whopping 50 hr battery life.

This model is suitable for all but lovers of low-frequency sound (hip-hop, electronica, etc.). Basic Sennheiser Accentum – I wasn’t as happy with the Sennheiser Accentum Plus. The Sennheiser Accentum Plus and Sennheiser Momentum 4 Wireless versions have much more in common in sound than the Accentum and Plus. I highly recommend adding $50 and buying the Accentum Plus specifically, and if the Sennheiser Accentum Plus Wireless ($229) go for $199 soon, that’s a great deal. But even now, under $250, of anything better there is only the Sony WH1000XM4 for $250-270. But the Sony’s are significantly bassier than the Sennheiser Accentum Plus.
