New Anker Soundcore Liberty 5 (2025) VS Anker Soundcore Liberty 4 – What’s New?

New Anker Soundcore Liberty 5 (2025)

Anker has just launched their new true wireless earbuds, the Soundcore Liberty 5. Compared to the previous generation, they’ve changed up the audio system, now featuring a single 9.2mm dynamic driver, a departure from the dual 9.2mm and 6mm drivers found before. A big upgrade is the Active Noise Cancellation 3.0, which is said to suppress ambient voices 2 times more effectively than the Anker Soundcore Liberty 4 NC. Battery life sees a solid boost too, jumping to 12 hours on a single charge for the earbuds themselves, and extending to a total of 48 hours with the charging case, significantly up from the previous 9 and 28 hours respectively. Other improvements include the move to Bluetooth 5.4 from 5.3 and an enhanced IP55 dust and water resistance rating, up from IPX4. Notably, these new earbuds do not include the built-in heartbeat sensor found in the earlier model.

The manufacturer has simplified the audio system in the Anker Soundcore Liberty 5 in-ear headphones. These new earbuds feature a single 9.2mm dynamic driver, a change from the Soundcore Liberty 4’s dual-driver setup which included both 9.2mm and 6mm dynamic drivers. The diaphragm is made of wool paper, and the frequency range is listed as 20 Hz to 40 kHz. The supported codecs remain the same: SBC, AAC, and LDAC. Whether this change makes the sound better or worse is currently difficult to say, partly because a planned review of the Anker Soundcore Liberty 4 on mychooz couldn’t be completed as the headphones reportedly broke right after being turned on for the first time.

Anker Soundcore Liberty 5 features

The headphones feature a total of six microphones combined with software noise reduction and Adaptive ANC 3.0 technology. This Active Noise Cancellation is particularly effective at suppressing ambient voices, doing so 2 times more strongly than the Anker Soundcore Liberty 4 NC – which was previously noted for having the best noise reduction among all Soundcore Liberty models. The sophisticated algorithm further enhances performance by calibrating the ANC settings every 0.3 seconds.

Through the dedicated Soundcore app, available for both Android and iOS, users can access personalized sound settings via HearID 4.0. This technology tailors the audio output to your individual hearing characteristics, ensuring an optimized listening experience simply by adjusting settings within the app. The app also provides customization options for controls and the equalizer. Additionally, Dolby Audio settings are integrated, allowing users to select profiles optimized for different content like movies, podcasts, and music. For quick and seamless pairing, Google Fast Pair is supported for Android devices.

Battery life has seen a significant increase. The headphones now offer up to 12 hours of playtime on a single charge, extending to a total of 48 hours when using the charging case. With Active Noise Cancellation enabled, you can expect around 8 hours from the earbuds and a total of 32 hours with the case. The Liberty 5 supports wireless charging, and a quick 10-minute charge provides an impressive 5 hours of music playback. In comparison, the Anker Soundcore Liberty 4 offered less runtime, with approximately 9 hours for the earbuds alone (7 hours with ANC) and a total of 28 hours with the case (24 hours with ANC).

Control of the headphones is handled by squeezing or pinching the stem. The design of the earbuds themselves remains largely unchanged from the previous generation. However, the charging case features an updated look, bearing a resemblance to the case of the Anker Soundcore Liberty 4 Pro. The headphones are available in four color options: blue, white, black, and pink.
