New Realme Buds Air 7 Pro (2025) VS Realme Buds Air 6 Pro – What’s New?

New Realme Buds Air 7 Pro

Mark your calendars! The brand-new Realme Buds Air 7 Pro in-ear TWS earbuds are officially launching and going on sale starting April 23rd. Realme plans to unveil these new wireless earbuds during their joint presentation for the upcoming Realme GT 7 smartphone.

Significant upgrades compared to the Realme Buds Air 6 Pro include:

  • Translation: Introducing real-time simultaneous and face-to-face translation capabilities.
  • Design: A refreshed look for both the earbuds and their charging case.
  • Audio: Upgraded LHDC 5.0 codec support (moving from LDAC).

Key performance enhancements feature:

  • Battery Life: Enjoy extended listening with up to 12 hours on the earbuds alone (increased from 10 hours) and a total playtime of up to 48 hours with the charging case (up from 40 hours).
  • Bluetooth: Version 5.4 (an upgrade from 5.3).
  • Active Noise Cancellation (ANC): Boosted ANC performance reaching up to 53dB (up from 50dB).

When it comes to the sound system, the Realme Buds Air 7 Pro Bluetooth earbuds retain the same core setup as before: an 11mm dynamic driver paired with a 6mm planar diaphragm driver. However, Realme has introduced a notable innovation here: a dual amplifier system specifically added for separate bass and treble control. This design choice is similar to what’s used in earbuds like the Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro, with the aim of reducing audio distortion for a cleaner sound. It’s interesting to point out that this marks the third consecutive generation of these in-ear headphones featuring the exact same set of sound drivers. Despite this consistency, the Realme Buds Air 6 Pro still managed to land on several of our major rankings for the best wireless earbuds. Whether the new Realme Buds Air 7 Pro can replicate the success of its predecessor remains to be seen – we’ll get the full picture after our complete review of the TWS earbuds.

In terms of audio codecs, the Realme Buds Air 7 Pro are expected to support SBC, AAC, and LHDC 5.0. This setup allows for high-resolution audio streaming with sampling rates reaching up to 192 kHz. For reference, previous generations, the Realme Buds Air 6 Pro and Buds Air 5 Pro, supported SBC, AAC, and LDAC codecs. This change raises a question, and it’s possible Realme might launch two different versions of the earbuds, similar to Xiaomi’s approach with their Redmi Buds 6 Pro. Based on this, we could potentially see the version released for Chinese consumers featuring the LHDC 5.0 codec, while a global version might come equipped with the LDAC codec instead.

Realme Buds Air 7 Pro (2025)

The standout feature, and arguably the main innovation of the Realme Buds Air 7 Pro, is their impressive translation capability. They offer both simultaneous and ‘face-to-face’ translation, supporting up to 32 common languages. For face-to-face conversations, the other person speaks into your phone’s microphone, and the translated audio is played back directly into your earbuds, with the text also saved on your phone for reference. Furthermore, the integrated AI goes beyond translation, capable of searching for useful information on demand, such as weather updates and more. Just be aware that these translation features and other smart functionalities require the use of the dedicated realme Link app, which is available for both Android and iOS devices.

Focusing on noise cancellation, the Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) feature on the Realme Buds Air 7 Pro is rated to reduce noise by up to 53dB, with a noise reduction bandwidth extending up to 5000Hz. This is an upgrade from the Realme Buds Air 6 Pro, which offered ANC rated at up to 50dB and a 4000Hz bandwidth.

Realme is also promoting an adaptive noise reduction setting designed to tailor the ANC specifically to the user’s ear canal. The ‘Golden Profile’ feature, which customizes the sound based on your hearing, might still require an initial manual setup. On the previous Buds Air 6 Pro, many found that ANC worked more effectively after completing the ‘Golden Profile’ adjustment. There’s some hope or speculation that the manufacturer might introduce an auto-tuning function for this process in the 7 Pro, but that’s not yet confirmed. One aspect that hasn’t changed is the number of microphones – you’ll still find three microphones in each earbud. Compared to Realme Buds Air 6 Pro, the total operating time of the new product has increased. But when using noise reduction, on the contrary, it decreased. Without noise reduction with AAC codec and 50% volume: 12 hours of work on a single charge and 48 hours with a case, was 10 and 40 hours respectively. With noise canceling 6.5 hours on a single charge and 26 hours with case, was 7.5 and 28 hours respectively. With LHDC 5.0 codec and noise canceling, 5 hours of operation and 20 hours with case.

The Realme Buds Air 7 Pro earbuds come with the convenience of simultaneous connection to two devices, making switching between, for example, your phone and laptop, seamless. For Windows users, Swift Pair technology is included, which helps speed up the process of connecting the earbuds to your PC. Mobile gamers will see an improvement with the signal delay reduced from 55ms down to a low 45ms. Finally, the earbuds offer IP55 protection, meaning they’re rated for dust and water resistance, adding some durability for workouts or unexpected light rain.

Starting with the aesthetics, the Realme Buds Air 7 Pro sport a completely updated design that takes cues from the Realme Buds Air 7. A notable change in the packaging is that a USB charging cable will no longer be included in the box. The earbuds are set to be released in four color options: Emerald, Gray, Sand White, and Fire Red. Adding some variety in feel, the Emerald and Gray versions feature a metal case finish, while the Sand White and Fire Red options come with a faux leather texture.

The Realme Buds Air 7 Pro are scheduled to go on sale in China starting April 23, 2025. Curiously, the official website currently lists their price at a placeholder 9,999 yuan, which converts to roughly $1,369 USD – a figure almost certainly too high to be the actual retail cost. This significant number is likely a mistake or intentionally set to obscure the real price until the official unveiling. The true pricing is expected to be announced during the upcoming presentation; for context, the previous Realme Buds Air 6 Pro launched at a much more typical price point of 349 yuan, or about $48 USD.
