On the latest firmware 1.1.0.85 using the LHDC 5.0 codec, the 8 Pro falls short in 4 out of 6 criteria, while tying in 2. The main drops are in the mids, detail retrieval, and soundstage (-1 each). Highs lose 0.5 due to a lack of quantity, while bass and timbre remain on par with the 7 Pro.The difference in sound is significant when compared head-to-head. If you listen to the 8 Pro in solo mode, it produces great sound that you enjoy and no flaws particularly stand out. But when you start comparing, it becomes clear within the first 10 seconds that the 7 Pro is better. In the end, if you place both models on a table, I would choose the 7 Pro without hesitation.
