Typically, hybrids use a combination of dynamic and armature drivers. Dynamic for rich low frequencies (or bass) and armature for distinct midrange treble. There are also electrostatic, isodynamic and planar drivers, with their own sound characteristics. This hybrid design provides more accurate and detailed sound reproduction across the entire frequency range, the different drivers seem to complement each other in sound, covering their weaknesses. This makes hybrids a popular choice among those who want a more interesting and detailed sound than classic dynamic headphones, which are the majority.
