TOP-20 Best Headphones for Tablet — iPad and Android

Best Headphones for Tablet — iPad and Android

In the ranking of the TOP 20 BEST tested wireless headphones for tablets. The full set of features is available when pairing Bluetooth headphones and a tablet from the same manufacturer. This is because different companies often create artificial limitations without a proprietary ecosystem. This is not critical if your priority is sound. But if features are important to you, then some will not work.

These limitations typically include proprietary Bluetooth codecs, higher audio stream bitrates, lack of translator and voice assistant support, seamless device switching, spatial audio, or custom EQ tuning. Basic functions like noise cancellation, transparency mode, microphone, and general sound settings usually work fine. If you want the most capabilities, consider headphones that aren’t tied to a specific manufacturer’s ecosystem.

How to achieve high-resolution audio with wireless headphones: LDAC, LHDC, aptX Adaptive, aptX Lossless, and more?

More details

Let’s dive deeper into the LDAC codec, which is relevant for all low-compression codecs: its compatibility, actual sound quality improvement, and where it works best.

TOP-20 Best Wireless Headphones for Tablet — Ranking

This ranking is alive — models change places in it.

1. Noble Audio FoKus Apollo Pro 8.89Best over-ear headphones for tablet by sound

Drivers ?

Drivers are the drivers in your headphones that are responsible for creating sound.

DD + PM + BA – means that there are several different types of drivers in these headphones.

DD – “Dynamic Driver” dynamic driver (deep bass, natural sound).

PM – “Planar Magnetic Driver” planar driver (wide soundstage and fast response).

BA – “Balanced Armature Driver” armature driver (accuracy and detail retrieval).

BC – “Bone Conduction Driver” or bone-conduction driver, which transmits vibration to the body of the headphones, transmitting sound through the bone/cartilage to the inner ear.

40 mm DD + 15 mm PM
Codecs ?

LDAC – high quality, high speed (Sony).

SBC is the basic Bluetooth standard, low quality.

AAC – Apple standard, good quality, low latency.

aptX – Qualcomm standard, good quality, low latency.

LC3/LC3plus – new Bluetooth LE Audio codecs, efficient compression.

Codecs are audio compression formats that affect sound quality and latency.

aptX, aptX HD, LDAC AAC, SBC
Battery life ?

Headphone battery life is the playback time without recharging, measured in hours. Manufacturers measure without active noise cancellation (ANC), at medium volume (50-70%) and usually with the AAC codec, as these parameters affect battery consumption. Actual time may vary from 1% to 50%, depending on volume, active noise cancellation features enabled, codec (LDAC or other) and environmental conditions (cold, hot). It is important to consider not only the claimed playback time, but also the charging time and fast charging support.

Noble Audio FoKus Apollo Pro

Essentially, the Noble Audio FoKus Apollo Pro are the same as the FoKus Apollo, just with better tuning. The Pro version offers a more pleasant sound and eliminates the need for manual EQ adjustments. Is it worth the extra $50? Yes, especially if you plan to use the headphones as they are and aren’t familiar with EQ. But if you can tune the EQ yourself or you prefer a bass-heavy and bright sound, then no. There’s no point in upgrading from the basic version to the Pro; the sound improvement is minimal. These headphones aren’t tied to an ecosystem and work with any tablets running Android, iOS, and Windows.

Reasons to buy:
  • Pleasant and smooth sound right out of the box.
  • Comfortable fit, sturdy and reliable build quality
  • Removable boom microphone.
Reasons not to buy:
  • Fabric finish collects dust and fine debris
Sound

The final sound score is calculated using this formula:

Frequency balance + Detail retrieval + Soundstage + Natural timbre / 4 = Final Sound Score.

.
9.50 These headphones immediately immerse you in the sound. The bass is smooth and balanced, and the treble isn’t harsh. It’s rare to find a sound profile straight out of the box that doesn’t need EQ adjustments. The audio is accurate, detailed, and natural – there’s truly nothing to fault. I enjoyed the sound more than the standard Apollo and simply don’t want to take them off. The Noble Audio FoKus Apollo Pro are entering the top tier and are setting a new benchmark for over-ear headphones on MyChooz.

Noble Audio FoKus Apollo Pro microphone

Microphone – We assess speech transmission quality by testing the microphone in two main scenarios: quiet and noisy environments.

Quiet environment – This involves recording indoors with minimal background noise. Noisy environment – This means recording outdoors near a six-lane road with maximum traffic noise.

.
8.00 In quiet conditions: 9 In noisy conditions: 7 The built-in microphone lacks gain, though the voice is clear. In noisy environments, the voice is harder to make out. The external boom microphone is more detailed and handles noise better. In all cases, the volume ramps up smoothly.

Overall feature score — this is the overall score for all device features. This score comes from individual feature ratings (battery life, controls, app, connection stability, and others) and shows how easy and smart the device is for daily use.

.
8.03 Useful features, has everything you need. Active noise cancellation blocks about 50% of noise, mostly in the low-frequency range. In transparency mode, you can have a conversation, though the mode is not what I would call comfortable. The controls are convenient, and you can manage the player, calls, and ambient sound using the buttons. There is a physical microphone mute switch, which is handy in games or when you need to step away briefly without dropping the connection. The connection itself is stable, though there is no auto-pause sensor. The companion app has useful features, but the app’s ergonomics itself are awkward.

.
8.67 Sturdy and reliable, unchanged compared to the base version. The exception is the mesh ear pads. The greenhouse effect in summer slows down, though it doesn’t go away entirely. The ear cups do not press on the ears, and minor fatigue sets in by the 3rd or 4th hour of use. Build quality is defect-free, and the materials are premium. The headphones look good, I liked them.

Sound

The final sound score is calculated using this formula:

Frequency balance + Detail retrieval + Soundstage + Natural timbre / 4 = Final Sound Score.

.
9.55 These headphones deliver the best sound quality of any over-ear model under $300. You get a pleasing bass-heavy sound with an intimate mid-range and moderately bright highs. The soundstage is spacious and full-bodied, completely free of artificial timbre or noticeable grain. Detail retrieval is sharp enough to catch micro-details. A few minor drawbacks include a slight excess in the bass, a shortfall in the highs, and a touch less transparency.

Up to 60 hours of battery life will easily carry you through a week of active listening. Controls are hybrid and mostly gesture-based on the right ear cup. Samsung Galaxy Buds 4 Pro Black Case Opened

The Samsung Galaxy Buds 4 Pro are a super successful update to the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro. They offer reference sound, reference functionality, and a comfortable design – hitting all the marks. However, maximum features are only available on flagship Samsung tablets. On devices from other manufacturers, you’ll only get basic codecs with about 15% loss in detail, no low-latency mode, no translator or voice assistant, no spatial audio, Auracast, or seamless device switching.

Reasons to buy:
  • Top-tier sound, reference-grade with the proprietary SSC UHD codec.
  • Includes a translator, voice assistant, spatial audio.
  • Reference-grade transparency, activation by saying your name.
Reasons not to buy:
  • The SSC UHD codec, translator, voice assistant, and spatial audio only work on Samsung flagship devices.
  • No companion app for Apple.
Sound

The final sound score is calculated using this formula:

Frequency balance + Detail retrieval + Soundstage + Natural timbre / 4 = Final Sound Score.

.
9.13 A wide soundstage, cool punchy bass, prominent vocals that separate cleanly from other instruments, and gorgeous detail retrieval. The main downside of the sound is perhaps the highs, which felt slightly lacking for me in both quality and quantity. The main plus of the sound is everything else, the soundstage is absolute reference material at 10 out of 10.

5.3
Apple AirPods Pro 3

The Apple AirPods Pro 3 are the best TWS headphones for Apple tablets, though they are limited by the proprietary ecosystem. On other devices, you get near-flagship sound, and the microphone, active noise cancellation, transparency mode, and controls are all at reference levels. The only critical drawback is that they might not fit well.

Reasons to buy:
  • Near-flagship sound quality — vastly superior to the 2 Pro.
  • Microphone is a benchmark
  • Noise cancellation and transparency mode operate at benchmark levels.
  • Controls are benchmark-level
  • Battery life increased by 2 hours, reaching up to 8 hours with ANC active.
  • Comfortable and sleek design
Reasons not to buy:
  • Comfort has improved across the model line, though it won’t suit everyone.
  • The app and other features work exclusively on Apple devices.
  • Minor drawbacks: the case scratches very quickly.
Sound

The final sound score is calculated using this formula:

Frequency balance + Detail retrieval + Soundstage + Natural timbre / 4 = Final Sound Score.

.
8.50 With EQ tuning, you can push the score up to a 9. You get excellent sound quality on par with top models from Sony, Sennheiser, Bose, and others. The strong suit is a significant boost in detail retrieval, soundstage, and naturalness. The tuning closely resembles the AirPods Pro 2, but it’s as if the window you’re looking through has been enlarged and thoroughly cleaned. Finally, you get a sound profile you don’t have to feel ashamed of. That’s a huge leap of +1.5 points compared to the Pro 2. It still doesn’t quite reach the level of the Realme Buds Air 7 Pro, Huawei Freebuds 4 Pro, or the reference Technics EAH-AZ100, but it’s getting close.

The Huawei Freebuds Pro 4 are the best headphones for Huawei MatePad Pro tablets in terms of sound quality. Feature-wise, the Freebuds Pro 4 are inferior to the next generation Freebuds 5 Pro. So, consider the new generation if features are your priority. The Noble Audio Fokus REX5 are the best hybrid TWS headphones for tablets, featuring five drivers. They aren’t tied to a tablet manufacturer’s ecosystem, giving you access to all the headphones’ capabilities—reference sound and proprietary tuning. There are no critical drawbacks, but it’s important to choose the right ear pad size.

Reasons to buy:
  • Best sound quality, reference-quality detail retrieval among true wireless models
  • Metal charging case and earbud body
  • 2 EQs with combinable settings; Audiodo personal sound tuning
Reasons not to buy:
  • Fit relies heavily on ear tips. You have to adjust the earbuds if the ear tips don’t fit right
  • Earbuds quickly cool down in cold weather
  • Average feature set
Sound

The final sound score is calculated using this formula:

Frequency balance + Detail retrieval + Soundstage + Natural timbre / 4 = Final Sound Score.

.
9.29 Noble FoKus REX5 provided the highest sound quality among all earbuds I’ve ever heard. It is now the reference, 0.5 points better than the Technics EAH-AZ100. But not a reference in every single aspect. The overall picture is wide, detailed, bright, and clean, with a 3D effect. Among the strengths: reference-grade midrange, reference-grade detail retrieval, and soundstage for earbuds. There are flaws in the sound, the main one being that high frequencies sometimes start to get piercing.

Battery life in our tests ranged from 4.5 to 7.5 hours depending on the codec used. Touch controls support 3 actions: play/pause, track switching, and volume control. The app keeps things simple: it includes 2 EQs and a personal sound tuning feature.

.
7.83 It is important to pick the right ear tips for these earbuds since the primary hold relies on them. Otherwise, the earbuds are comfortable, and there is no discomfort after 2 hours of use. The build is metal, with no complaints about manufacturing or materials. The appearance is neat and appealing, and the vibrant color scheme is not off-putting.

SoundCore Liberty 5 Pro

In the SoundCore Liberty 5 Pro, the main focus is on features that rival reference standards in every category, particularly excellent voice isolation in noisy environments. Overall, this model stands out as a leader, following the Liberty 5 Pro Max. So, if features are your priority, the Liberty 5 Pro or 5 Pro Max will suit you. The sound is decent, just unremarkable – a comfortable background listen for everyday use.

Reasons to buy:
  • Comfortable balanced sound.
  • Reference functionality.
  • Comfortable fit.
Reasons not to buy:
  • The sound is marginally better than the previous generation.
  • The companion app consumes up to 1.9 GB of RAM.
Sound

The final sound score is calculated using this formula:

Frequency balance + Detail retrieval + Soundstage + Natural timbre / 4 = Final Sound Score.

.
8.25 Traditionally with a bass emphasis, although the amount of lows is smaller compared to past generations. Out of the box, the sound is not boring and not harsh. Comfortable background sound for everyday listening. Moderately detailed and natural. And pulling the score down are a lack of clarity and soundstage. This is roughly like coming to a concert and listening to the performance backstage or sitting in the very last side seats. Ordinary sound without critical flaws, moderately pleasant and melodic, particularly with EQ tuning. Liberty 5 Pro – enter the silver league of MyChooz.

OnePlus Buds 4

The OnePlus Buds 4 are the best wireless headphones with a bass-heavy sound. When paired with OnePlus tablets, they offer seamless device switching, a translator, and automatic game mode activation. These limitations are artificial; if you disregard the translator function, the headphones work well on other tablets running Android, iOS, and Windows.

It’s advisable to choose a tablet that supports the LHDC 5.0 codec and a source with a Snapdragon mobile platform.

Reasons to buy:
  • Top-tier bass sound without needing EQ tweaks
  • Comfortable fit
  • Sound improves with the golden hearing profile
Reasons not to buy:
  • Minor downsides: translator only works on OnePlus phones
  • LHDC 5.0 codec support is recommended
  • Sound quality is worse on MediaTek devices compared to Snapdragon
Sound

The final sound score is calculated using this formula:

Frequency balance + Detail retrieval + Soundstage + Natural timbre / 4 = Final Sound Score.

.
8.58 The emphasis is on pleasant bass and the highs. Top-tier sound, reasonably natural without noticeable artificiality or grain. There is enough detail retrieval to pick apart instrument textures, even in busy tracks with complex arrangements. The soundstage is spacious with clean separation between vocals and instruments. Downsides include an abundance of bass that overly crowds the stage and reduces transparency in the mids. There is also a slight lack of detail and texture in the sound.

Sound

The final sound score is calculated using this formula:

.
8.38 The main plus of the sound is the mids and naturalness, offering close and transparent vocals. The sound is slightly unnatural, but free of artificial timbre, paired with good, detailed bass.
The main downside of the sound is bright highs. This kind of sound causes fatigue, particularly on tracks with abundant percussion. Therefore, updating the firmware is important because it makes the sound balance more pleasant.

High-frequency instruments are clear, just harsh and quickly fatiguing — this is the most significant flaw in the sound. Furthermore, the soundstage felt insufficiently spacious. Nothing Headphone (1)

The Nothing Headphone (1) are the best over-ear headphones for tablets in terms of control convenience. Actions are assigned to different buttons and are customizable in the proprietary app. In most cases, the control scheme is fixed and doesn’t change. The headphones also look stylish and unique compared to competitors. The model isn’t strictly tied to the Nothing ecosystem; only access to the ChatGPT neural network works on proprietary Nothing phones.

Reasons to buy:
  • Good and even sound with EQ
  • Microphone – top-tier
  • Active noise cancellation and transparency mode are top-tier.
  • Controls and app – top-tier!
  • Battery life – top-tier!
  • Build – beautiful with nuances.
Reasons not to buy:
  • The sound requires EQ tuning, out of the box it’s at the level of sub-$100 models.
  • Minor flaws: the bass adjustment feature in the app didn’t work.
Final sound rating

The final sound score is calculated using this formula:

Frequency balance + Detail retrieval + Soundstage + Natural timbre / 4 = Final Sound Score.

.
7.33 Roughly this result is what I expected. You can hear that the headphones are capable of playing, that there is potential. But the sound was tuned a bit incorrectly. I hope the default EQ gets fixed via firmware updates. In this model, EQ tuning is simply a must. Which we will handle shortly. It is not difficult, you do it once and forget it.

The main plus of the sound is naturalness and responsiveness to EQ. If the EQ did not fix the situation, this model would be an underdog. With tuning, you can safely add +1 point out of 10 to the final score. The main downside of the sound is that EVERYTHING lacks just a little bit. Bass, mids, highs. Because of which a lot is lost in detail retrieval, plus the soundstage is a bit pushed back. This is sound behind a wall in the next room. And you want it to be right in front of you.

The Sony WH-1000XM5 are the best wireless over-ear headphones with noise cancellation and ease of use. The earcups press less on the ears compared to the next generation—WH-1000XM6. However, they are about 15% inferior in noise cancellation across the entire frequency range. The headphones offer reference-level transparency and a top-tier microphone. There’s no ecosystem tie-in, so they can be fully used with tablets from different manufacturers. The only critical drawbacks are the hinges, which don’t withstand intensive load and can break.

Reasons to buy:
  • Reference-quality noise cancellation and transparency.
  • Signature low-frequency sound
  • Detailed microphone and comfortable fit
  • Best automatic EQ tuning
Reasons not to buy:
  • Fragile hinges
  • Fingerprint-attracting coating
Sound

The final sound score is calculated using this formula:

Frequency balance + Detail retrieval + Soundstage + Natural timbre / 4 = Final Sound Score.

.
8.13 The headphones feature a low-frequency, all-encompassing sound signature typical of the headphone series. The main pluses of the sound are the soundstage, natural timbre, and detail retrieval. There is no artificiality or grain, and there is clear instrument and spatial effect separation. The main downside of the sound is the lows. There is a slight excess in quantity, giving the sound a bassy tint, and bass-heavy tracks sound a bit boomy. Plus, the vocals lack transparency.

Sony WH-1000XM5 microphone

Microphone – We assess speech transmission quality by testing the microphone in two main scenarios: quiet and noisy environments.

Quiet environment – This involves recording indoors with minimal background noise. Noisy environment – This means recording outdoors near a six-lane road with maximum traffic noise.

.
7.00 In quiet conditions: 8 In noisy conditions: 6 The headphones feature 8 microphones, though only 4 are used for calls. In quiet environments, the recording is detailed, the first words are muted, and faint clicking sounds can be heard. In noisy environments, the recording quality is noticeably worse, but you can still make out the words.

.
7.60 The headphones are comfortable, the earcups apply minimal pressure to the ears, and you’ll want to take a break after about 2 hours. No complaints about build and materials. Only the coating is a fingerprint magnet and requires daily care. The weak spot in the design is the hinges, with frequent breakages at the earcup swivel point. The headphones look good, choice of 5 colors.

Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds

The Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds are the best headphones for Android and iOS tablets because they aren’t tied to a specific manufacturer’s ecosystem. They’re suitable for sports and communication—the transparency mode is reference-level, as is the noise cancellation. Among the drawbacks are poor microphone noise cancellation and an inconvenient proprietary app.

Reasons to buy:
  • Reference-quality active noise cancellation (ANC) among true wireless earbuds
  • Top-tier low-frequency sound
  • Best Spatial Audio performance
  • Comfortable fit for running and sports
Reasons not to buy:
  • Poor microphone active noise cancellation (ANC)
  • Clunky app
  • IPx4 dust and water resistance. No case protection.
Sound

The final sound score is calculated using this formula:

Frequency balance + Detail retrieval + Soundstage + Natural timbre / 4 = Final Sound Score.

.
8.26 Bass-heavy, with a slight excess of bass and mids. You can tweak the sound in the app EQ to get a comfortable listening experience. Vocals and instruments are clear, with no noticeable digital processing or grain. The soundstage only feels somewhat enclosed, just a bit wider than your head. Still, you get width and depth with good instrument separation.

EarFun Air Pro 4 Plus

The EarFun Air Pro 4 Plus are the best wireless headphones for Android tablets, supporting aptX series codecs and LDAC. While the sound quality with AAC is also top-notch, making them suitable for iPads. Plus, these headphones aren’t tied to a specific manufacturer’s ecosystem. They feature a translator for 146 languages and dialects, along with convenient manual and pre-set EQ options. Among the drawbacks are average noise cancellation and transparency, and the controls might not be to your liking.

Reasons to buy:
  • Detailed sound
  • Sound settings: 10-band EQ, preset modes, custom tuning
  • Translator for 165 languages and dialects
  • LDAC and 3 aptX Bluetooth codecs
Reasons not to buy:
  • Treble is a bit harsh
  • The balanced armature driver occasionally resonates
  • Battery life is shorter than claimed
Sound

The final sound score is calculated using this formula:

.
8.33 The strong suit of the EarFun Air Pro 4 Plus is its stunning vocal delivery across almost any track. If you want an emotional, lively, and soul-stirring performance, the Air Pro 4 Plus delivers. Natural timbre is also top-notch despite a slightly cool tint from the balanced armature driver. Among the weaknesses, I would point out the narrow soundstage, which leads to minor yet noticeable issues with detail retrieval and proper instrument separation across the soundstage. The headphones also lack a bit of bass, which is easily fixed via the EQ, with rock being the best preset for it.
